9–11 September 2026
University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty, Slovenia
The ERA Chair Foodomics at the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, is pleased to announce the 2nd ERA Chair Foodomics Workshop: Metabolomics Methodologies, a three-day event bringing together leading experts in metabolomics from academia and industry.
The workshop is designed to provide participants with both a solid theoretical background and practical experience in state-of-the-art metabolomics methodologies. The programme combines lectures with hands-on workshops covering clinical lipidomics, plant and food metabolomics.
The workshop will open with a keynote lecture by Prof. Thomas Moritz (Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Basic Metabolic Research, Medical faculty, University of Copenhagen), who will present his perspective on the development and applications of metabolomics in biological research. Additional lectures and practical sessions will be led by experts asist. prof. dr. Kajetan Trošt and ass. prof. Ana Miklavčič Višnjevec the new members of ERA Chair, Dr. Olga Deda (of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki), Dr. Andreja Vanzo (of the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia), and Ivan Grgičević from Labtim Adria.
A highlight of the programme is the practical training, where participants will gain hands-on experience with metabolomics workflows, analytical instrumentation, and data analysis. The workshop also includes a visit to the Agricultural Institute of Slovenia, featuring practical demonstrations of metabolomics applications in grapevine research.
The event is intended for researchers, PhD students, and professionals interested in modern metabolomics approaches. While the lecture sessions on the first day are open to a wider audience, participation in the practical workshops is limited to ensure high-quality, interactive training. Registration for the workshop is now open and will remain open until all available places are filled.
