On Wednesday, 27 August 2025, representatives of the Centre of Metabolomics in Food and Nutrition, Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana, prof. dr. Urška Vrhovšek and prof. dr. Nataša Poklar Ulrih, took part in the AGRA SRIP HRANA event, which was held as part of the international agricultural and food fair AGRA 2025 in Gornja Radgona, Slovenia.
The event was free of charge and brought together stakeholders from across the agri-food value chain – including research institutions, industry representatives, and support organizations. Key themes included food innovation, sustainability, and digital transformation in the agri-food sector.

As part of the ERA Chair Foodomics, Horizon EU initiative, ERA Chair holder Prof. Dr.Urška Vrhovšek, presented our project and the broader vision of establishing a Centre for Food and Nutrition Metabolomics at the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana.
The centre is set to officially launch by the end of the project in 2030, with the aim of becoming a national and international hub for cutting-edge research, education, and collaboration in the field of metabolomics applied to food, health, and nutrition.
During the initial five years of the project ERA Chair Foodomics, the centre will:
-
Employ a team of international researchers,
-
Organize scientific events, workshops, conferences, and summer schools,
-
Build foundational infrastructure and expertise,
-
And actively contribute to the development of a new study track that will offer high-quality education and training in metabolomics and related disciplines.
This initiative represents a significant step forward in advancing research excellence and fostering innovation in food science and public health.
Events like this offer valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and for strengthening collaboration between academia and industry.
