About Prof. Dr. Nataša Poklar Ulrih

Prof. dr. Nataša Poklar Ulrih is a full Professor of Biochemistry at the Biotechnical Faculty of the University of Ljubljana, where she has held various leadership roles Dean if Biotechnical Faculty. Her research focuses on biophysical chemistry, protein-ligand interactions, extremophilic microorganisms, and polyphenols on encapsulation techniques. Throughout her career, prof. Poklar Ulrih has led or participated in numerous national and international projects, including H2020 initiatives, and she currently coordinates the long-term Slovenian research program P4-0121, which is central to advancing scientific research in her field.

She has completed study visits and postdoctoral research in the USA and Canada. As a Fulbright Scholar at UC Santa Cruz,  she expanded her expertise and in the filed of protein aggregation. Prof. Poklar Ulrih has authored over 240 scientific papers, delivered more than 40 invited lectures, and holds several patents, underscoring her significant contributions to both academic and applied sciences.

In addition to her research, prof. Poklar Ulrih actively mentors PhD students and young researchers, helping to shape the next generation of scientists. She serves on various scientific committees and boards, contributing her expertise to advancing global research efforts. As a member of multiple professional societies, she is deeply committed to the scientific community and has received prestigious awards, including the Fulbright Fellowship, the Jesenko and Lapanje Awards, and the Golden Medal of the University of Ljubljana, all of which recognize her outstanding contributions to science and research.
